Real estate professional Katie Machoskie is having the busiest summer of her career. In fact, the week we spoke, she had just closed a transaction of $25 million on a gorgeous waterfront property on Harbor Island and she had five other properties in escrow. As one of Orange County’s most dedicated, ethical and straight-talking real estate professionals, Machoskie is certainly in high demand.

Machoskie has ranked in the top 1000 agents in the nation and consistently ranks in the top one percent of Newport Beach agents. In addition, she has sold more than $250 million in her own neighborhood, and was named one of REAL Trends America’s Best Real Estate Agents in 2017.

As one of the founding agents of Compass in Newport Beach, Machoskie has built a team of licensed real estate professionals with geographic specialties in mind. Each team member is a specialist in a specific area, and they all possess different skill sets, including an agent who is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin.

“We genuinely care about each client and work tirelessly to ensure their financial goals are met. We treat our clients as we would treat our own families,” says Machoskie.

After attending UCLA, Machoskie spent several years working in the entertainment industry as a publicist. She then ventured into the nonprofit world, where she raised more than $200 million in donations during her career working for various nonprofit organization and taught classes at UCI. She spent 15 years “selling hope,” as her husband, Ed Machoskie, would frequently tell her, and Machoskie credits him with inspiring her to transition to real estate, as he often suggested that she would make a great salesperson. “I got my license, sold a house four days later and never looked back. I love it.” admits Machoskie. “I love interacting with such a wide variety of people and helping them move to the next stage in life. I love the people you meet, the challenges of each transaction, all aspects of it.”

As a Southern California native, she has extensive knowledge of Orange County communities, especially coastal OC, and her team assists clients from Marina del Rey to San Clemente. Machoskie also specializes in Professional Athlete Relocation and she divulges that she’s working with a significant athlete at the moment, although discretion prevents her from naming any names. She has contacts with several sports agents, and her professionalism and level of service earn her a great deal of repeat business from those relationships. Besides assisting professional athletes with relocation and finding a new place to call home, Machoskie also specializes in sales due to death or divorce. “I swore I’d never forget how stressful a sale and moving can be. I ask lots of questions to determine what matters most for each client,” she shares. After assessing specific needs and concerns , she then creates a personal plan to provide the client with suggested communities that will meet their needs. “Reducing my clients’ stress and making the process smooth and enjoyable is a top priority.”

It is this personal, hands-on approach that sets Machoskie & Associates apart from other real estate teams. Machoskie is fully involved in each transaction, and she never hands off business to a junior agent. As she notes, “It’s critical to provide clients with my expertise and personal attention in each transaction.”

Married to Ed for 26 years, Machoskie persuaded him to come out of retirement to head up Business Development for Machoskie & Associates. With more than 20 years of experience in business development, relationship management and raising capital, he is an invaluable asset to her team as an ambassador and corporate matchmaker, linking people with opportunities.

When asked what she likes to do in her downtime when she’s not assisting clients with buying and selling homes, Machoskie laughs and says, “There’s never enough time in the day.” She enjoys spending time with her family—the Machoskies have four children. She also enjoys dining with friends, contemporary art, the beach and loves to ski. Katie loves to write and has published two children’s books and is currently working on a humorous “how-to” manual for happy marriages. She notes, “After 26 years of marriage, I’ve learned a few things, but a sense of humor helps the most.”

With a strong work ethic and a constant effort to provide the very best in service, Machoskie and her team are leading the way as a dedicated and diverse group of Orange County real estate professionals. If Machoskie’s recent, highly successful summer transactions are any indication, it seems a safe bet to presume that her schedule isn’t likely to lighten anytime soon.
